Turf in southern California public landscapes has always been a “hot topic”. Mr. Grove will present a brief history of turf use in southern California, major types of turf and water requirements, the positive and negative aspects of turf, alternate types of irrigation, practical turf substitutes and current and future turf research. He will also highlight the changing attitudes towards turf use by municipalities in light of the current statewide drought conditions and tighter local water restrictions.
